What time period is used to determine which visitors are new vs. repeat?

Repeat visitors are calculated on devices that have been detected in the location at any time in the past. There is no time limit truncating the set of repeat devices.

Does the visitor count number include the staff members in my locations?

BT Wi-Fi Insight's algorithms can determine which devices belong to staff members and exclude them from the visitor count. BT Wi-Fi Insight examines the duration and frequency of Wi-Fi signals from devices to determine which devices need to be eliminated from the dashboard. For example, in a retail setting devices that are detected for 3 or more days out of the last 10 days with a duration of 2 or more hours are filtered out as staff.

Does the visitor count number include computers, printers, scanners, or other Wi-Fi enabled office equipment in location?

BT Wi-Fi Insight examines the duration and frequency of Wi-Fi signals from devices to determine which static devices need to be eliminated from the dashboard, such as computers, printers, and scanners.

I have a location on the side of a busy street / highway. Will people in cars driving by show up in my visit counts?

BT Wi-Fi Insight’s algorithms can differentiate between devices belonging to people walking by on the street and devices in vehicles driving by on the road. We examine the duration and frequency of Wi-Fi signals from devices to determine which devices need to be eliminated from the dashboard, ensuring that devices driving by your location will be excluded from the visitor count.
