Are analytics being applied to the device counts on the ‘Sensors’ page?

The Sensors page shows a real-time feed of raw device counts, and does not apply analytics to the displayed data. This page is a tool for the IT team to determine whether the Wi-Fi network is currently collecting and aggregating data properly.

Why are there more devices seen than visitors in my location?

All Wi-Fi-enabled devices are included in the raw device count on the Sensors tab, including other access points, printers, laptops, etc. The sensors tab is a tool for the IT team to determine whether the Wi-Fi network is currently collecting and aggregating data properly. Visitor behavior metrics can be found in the other tools of the product.

What is the device association tile displaying?

The device association tile displays the percentage of devices that are connected (associated) to an access point in the Wi-Fi network and the percentage that are not connected (unassociated), but only sending probe signals.

What is the device manufacturers breakdown?

BT Wi-Fi Insight classifies devices by the manufacturer (i.e. Apple, Android, Blackberry, etc.) for mobile devices and by device type (i.e. Access Point, Printer, Other, etc.) for static devices. This tile provides a view of which types of devices are detected in different settings.

What is the Signal Strength (DBM) tile displaying?

The signal strength tile is displaying the distribution of devices seen at various signal strengths in each location, from 0 to -90 Decibel-milliwatts (dBm). Greater negative numbers indicate a further distance between the access point and the device.

What timeframe is included in the hourly average device count?

The average hourly device count includes the full history of data collection to date.
